Nebraska which usually has about 5,000 acres of spring wheat planted saw more seeded this year. State Wheat Commission Executive Director Royce Schaneman says they 20,000 acres of spring wheat that was planted is looking good and has received positive moisture so far.
He says much of the winter wheat is now rated good to excellent and overall is looking good as well.
Schaneman says the winter wheat is about a month away from being harvested.
Schaneman says they’ve seen traces of some diseases pop up including wheat streak mosaic, barley yellow dwarf and leaf blotch. He advises growers to scout especially for the barley yellow dwarf.
