Nebraska Speed Limits Could Go Up

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is pushing for legislation which could push the speed limit on Interstate 80 to 80 miles per hour.
Ricketts is backing a bill filed this legislative session which would allow the Nebraska Department of Transportation to increase the speed limit on many state roads by five miles per hour. . .

Ricketts doesn’t believe raising the speed limit on I-80 to 80 miles per hour would give drivers free rein to drive 90 or 100 miles per hour. . .

The bill would allow the speed limit on expressways to increase to 70 miles per hour and would set a standard speed limit on most rural roads at 65 miles per hour.
