The Nebraska Sorghum Producer’s Association members have passed a pair of resolutions in support of the rights of the state’s farmers and to promote environmental sustainability in agriculture. Association Executive Director Nate Blum says with their first resolution they’re joining the United Farmers and Ranchers in Action group’s Decades of Ag policy.

He says their second resolution opposes the President’s 30 by 30 initiative as well as the remake of the Water of the U.S. rule.

Blum says any reversion to the original WOTUS would lead to a large government overreach that would harm private land ownership and producer’s right to farm their operations the way they see fit.

Blum says the danger in letting that WOTUS remake go forward is it negatively impacts family farms and how they’re operated and managed. He says the question becomes if that much land is taken so fast out of production what does that do to safe and affordable food that consumers need and want.
