Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts is leading a trade mission in Hong Kong and Macau this week after stopping in mainland China. The Nebraska trade team signed nine letters of intent with Hong Kong and Macau to purchase Nebraska beef and pork. Nebraska State Ag Director Greg Ibach says they’re also helping train chefs.
He says their trade trip has been very successful and they’re hoping for even more future business with their partners in Hong Kong and Macau.
Ibach says the letters of intent are not legally binding but are a promise to purchase ag commodities.
Ibach says volumes of the beef and pork that were agreed to in the letters of intent were not released due to the propriety part of the businesses in Hong Kong and Macau as they don’t want to let their competitors know what their buying.
