Three Nebraska State Senators have been making stops in eastern South Dakota, in support of a constitutional amendment on the November ballot.
Amendment “V” would make all elections nonpartisan, with the top two with the most votes in a primary advancing to the general election.
Senator Galen Hadley of Kearney, who is also Speaker of the body, says they are in South Dakota, answering questions about their system….
Nebraska has a Unicameral legislature, with just a Senate. The forty nine Senators are elected on a non-partisan ballot.
Hadley says all voters in each Senate district can vote in the primary…..
Hadley says there are democrats and republicans in the Senate, but they don’t vote along those lines….
Senators Colby Coash and Adam Morfeld both of Lincoln were also on the tour.
