Nebraska’s two republican Senators have sent letters to the Corps of Engineers and the US Fish and Wildlife Service, outlining their concerns with land acquisitions connects to the Ponca Confluence project along the Missouri River.
Senator Deb Fischer says it looks similar to other regulation efforts

The Ponca Confluence project is designed to set aside lands near the river for conservation and public access.
Fischer says federal agencies need to be careful when they approach private land owners.

Fischer says there needs to be a better approach on projects like this.

Spokesmen for the US Fish and Wildlife service have said they are interested in easements, and buying land only from willing sellers.
