Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse has returned from a trip to the southern border convinced Congress must move to secure the border.
Sasse, along with two other senators, visited with local law enforcement in the southwestern part of the United States…as well as members of the border patrol. Sasse doesn’t blame the border patrol for the large numbers of immigrants entering the country illegally.

Sasse says the biggest danger posed by lax enforcement of the southern border is posed by terrorists, who might be able to get into the United States and do great harm.

Sasse says Congress’ fight with President Barack Obama over his immigration executive order should be seen as a separate issue from steps to secure the southern border.
Sasse insists Republican resistance to the executive order is based on the constitutional separation of powers.

Sasse says moves to take funding away from Homeland Security can be used to oppose the executive order while still leaving the funding in place to patrol the border.
