A state senator has resigned from the Unicameral early to lead a new effort to create a long-range economic plan for Nebraska.
Former Senator Jim Smith of Papillion had to leave the Unicameral at the end of this year due to term limits. He has resigned to begin work as the executive director of Blueprint Nebraska. Smith, who worked on economic issues in the legislature calls it a good fit

Smith says industry councils will be formed with citizens throughout Nebraska to analyze the state economy and pave a way for the future

Blueprint Nebraska will gather input from businesses, industry, education, and state government to devise a long-range economic plan for the state.
