According to the Congressional Budget Office, 18 million Americans would lose health insurance if portions of the Affordable Care Act are repealed. With requirements, not in place many people would cancel policies and that would increase the premiums for those buying coverage on their own. A repeal has been promised by the incoming administration but little is known about a replacement plan. Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse says that is because party lines have been drawn.
Sasse says the “repeal and replace” strategy is about the only answer right now. The repeal is needed to draw the Democrats to the table for discussions on what the new package would look like.
Sasse says the Democrats do not want to talk about a replacement plan so they can turn around and blame the Republicans for not having a plan ready to go.
