A greater number of Nebraska children in the state’s care resulted in a large number of adoptions last year.
That’s one reason the state Division of Children and Family Services is giving for the 538 adoptions.
Administrator Nanette Simmons says efficiencies in the adoption process also contributed to successful adoptions.
Families who want to adopt must complete several background checks, as well as a home study and walk through of the home by a case worker.
Simmons says the children ranged in age from one to 18 years old.
Simmons says information about adopting a child is available by calling 1-800-7-PARENT.
