Schools in Nebraska are now being rated under a system called “AQueSTT”, (Accountability for a Quality Education System Today and Tomorrow) with a one through four scale. The scale goes from excellent, to great, to good, to needs improvement.
The Hartington-Newcastle district was given a “two” or good rating.
Superintendent A.J. Johnson says it is a positive rating, with room to grow…..
The district got their highest rating in assessment, and the lowest in educator effectiveness. Johnson says with changes in state assessments, it can be difficult for parents and the public to keep track…..
Johnson says they want to make sure their students are prepared when they graduate….
A statewide breakdown showed that 13 percent of the schools were classified excellent, 42 percent were great, 37 percent were good and 8 percent were designated as in need of improvement.
