Nebraska Revenue Lags Behind

State revenue is still lagging behind in Nebraska, but how state officials view the latest figures depends on their perspective.

For Appropriations Committee chair, Senator John Stinner of Gering, the figures provide a bit of relief; April net receipts were projected to be down 65-Million dollars and were actually down 55-Million.

Governor Pete Ricketts has a less rosy assessment, pointing out revenues for this fiscal year lag so far behind they would have pick up by 5-percent the next two months to meet budget projections.

Ricketts opposes lowering the minimum budget reserve from three percent to two-and-a-half percent.

Ricketts has yet to act on the state budget approved by lawmakers.
