Nebraska has received a half million dollar grant to create Library Innovation Studios for 30 rural communities.
Governor Pete Ricketts says the 530-Thousand dollar grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services will create makerspaces in the rural libraries.
Nebraska Innovation Studio founder Shane Farritor says this will feed Nebraska’s special talent in tinkering and building.
These makerspaces will have high-tech tools and technology to help with self-guided education or even to spark innovation which could lead to new businesses.
Eighteen communities will receive the initial grant money with the 12 others chosen through a bid process.
