Defending national champion Nebraska is No. 1 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll. Creighton is Number 18, the Bluejays’ highest ranking for any week in program history.
Nebraska received 60 of a possible 64 first-place votes in the poll released Wednesday and is followed by Texas, the team it beat in Omaha for the national championship last December.
Other Big Ten teams in the top 25 are No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 9 Penn State, No. 14 Illinois, No. 15 Ohio State and No. 20 Purdue.
Before Wednesday, Creighton’s highest ranking had been No. 19 on two occasions. The Bluejays went to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16 for the first time last year.
