Of all states, Nebraska ranks 32nd in the nation for the number of UFO reports per 100-thousand people. David Pares is the faculty advisor for the University of Nebraska – Omaha Mutual UFO Network and investigates sightings reported to his organization. He says there could be several reasons as to why Nebraska ranks low on the list.
Pares says most of those sightings turn out to be those floating lanterns that are now outlawed in the state.
Pares says most times they can identify the object but there is a very small percentage that remains unknown.
Pares says reasons for the low number of sightings in Nebraska could be a lower population base. He says the most sightings are reported along the east coast and in California.
