Three public hearings are planned to provide Nebraskans more information about Initiative Measure 427, which seeks to expand Medicaid eligibility in the state.  That issue will be on the November ballot.  Deputy Secretary of State for Elections Wayne Bena says those attending the hearings will first hear from opponents and proponents of the initiative.

Bena says the public can take part in several ways.

The first meeting is for District 2 and is set for October 11th at the Omaha Public Schools Administration Building Board Room at 32nd and Cuming.  The District 1 hearing is at the Nebraska State Capitol on October 16th.  The District 3 hearing will be on October 30th at the College Park of Grand Island Theater Room on West Highway 34.  All hearings will start at 6 p.m.
