The proposed new GIPSA rules have been delayed until October, but many groups would just like to see the rules rescinded, including the Nebraska Pork Producers Association. Executive Director Al Juhnke says the GIPSA rule changes will not be beneficial for the pork industry.
He says the new GIPSA rules impact pork, cattle and poultry groups differently.
Juhnke is encouraging Nebraska’s pork producers to submit comments on the new rules through the National Pork Producers Council website.
Juhnke says if the new GIPSA rules go forward his group wants to work with Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue to help him understand their concerns.
