Nebraska lawmakers will be asked to endorse a plan designed to speed up road and bridge projects.
Governor Pete Ricketts endorsed the creation of a 150-Million dollar transportation infrastructure bank by gradually taking money from the 728-Million dollar cash reserve fund.
Ricketts says the move won’t put state finances at risk. . .
The infrastructure bank would help build expressways, repair county bridges, and complete economic development projects.
Nebraska Department of Roads Director Kyle Schneweis says the influx of money could cut four years on completion of major roads projects. . .
The cash reserve fund would be paid back through savings, unprogrammed dollars, and federal funds.
