More than $300,000 has been granted to Nebraska nursing students to improve the health care in underserved areas. Dr. Lynette Stamler, Associate Dean of Academic Programs, says The Health Resources and Services Administration has awarded the grant to the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing for a variety of students.
The grant will help pay for tuition, supplies, and a stipend for current students who are from, or plan to return to, underserved and rural communities across the state.
Stamler says a similar grant was given in South Dakota as well. The goal of the grants is to graduate advanced practice nurses more quickly to serve rural communities.
