The Nebraska Natural Resources Conservation Service has special funding available to help farmers control erosion on their cropland. Assistant State Conservationist for Programs Brad Soncksen says the EQIP monies can be used to install farming practices that control Ephemeral gullies. He says those are small ditches that occur from concentrated flow on fields.
He says interested producers should apply at their local county NRCS office, as the applications go through a ranking process to determine which projects get funded.
Soncksen says there is time yet to install practices needed under the program. However, their goal is to get it done within a year after a project is approved.
The application deadline is July 21. You can find out more details by going to the Nebraska NRCS website.
