Nebraska NRCS is excited to announce Robert Lawson as their new State Conservationist. Lawson has worked with the NRCS for the last 18 years and has held multiple leadership positions within the agency. Lawson grew up on a family farm in southeast Iowa and earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Public Service and Administration. He says making NRCS programs available to everyone is one of his main priorities.

Lawson notes when addressing the push for climate-smart agriculture he wants to remind people that current conservation is the same as climate-smart practices.

NRCS provides farmers and ranchers with financial and technical assistance to voluntarily put conservation on the ground, helping improve agricultural operations and the environment.
