Nebraska needs more mental and behavioral health professionals.
The federal government classifies most counties in the state as having a shortage.
Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska director Howard Liu says progress is being made.

The Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska is creating workforce development programs to address the problem.
Liu (lew) says using different approaches seems to be getting results.

Liu says they want to get at least half the students in Nebraska who are majoring in the field to stay in the state.
