Nebraska Natural Resources Committee Hears Lewis & Clark Lake Improvement Bill

A bill that could authorize nearly ninety million dollars in improvements to state facilities on the Nebraska side of Lewis & Clark Lake had a hearing in front of the Natural Resources Committee of the Nebraska Legislature. Its part of the “Star Wars” water development proposal backed by Governor Pete Ricketts.

Eunice Palu of Bloomfield, with “Friends of Knox County” told Senators that Nebraska is far behind South Dakota in attracting visitors to the lake area…

Palu says the development could draw more permanent residents to the area….

Creighton city councilor Eric Schroeder told Senators the improvements are critical….

Schroeder says the money could spur significant growth in the area…

The bill also includes money for improvements to Niobrara State Park. A vote on the bill will come later in the session.
