Nebraska Medicine and UNMC to Send Ebola Response Team to Uganda

Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center is sending an Ebola response team to Uganda after an outbreak of the virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Dr. James Lawler in their infectious disease expert and says they are prepared to provide training in a situation like this.  They successfully treated patients with the illness after an outbreak in West Africa in 2014.

Lawler says their goal is to keep it from spreading

Members of the bio-containment unit in Omaha cared for three patients during the Ebola crisis in West Africa in 2014.  The team consists of one doctor, three nurses and a respiratory therapist.
