The Nebraska livestock siting assessment matrix draft document is now available for public review and comments. Comments on the matrix must be submitted by July 31 of this year to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. Matrix committee member Mark McHargue says his panel covered a wide variety of issues within their draft document.
He says his committee put together a strong draft so that it would be useable for county governments, especially if they don’t have regulations in place.
McHargue says the committee made sure their draft document is science based.
McHargue says his committee wants to be able to tweak it to make it the best tool possible going forward. The final publication of the assessment matrix must be completed by August 30 of this year.
