Nebraska License Plates Not at the Top of List in Legislature

Opponents complained that it has taken up too much legislative debate time, but fail to stop the “Choose Life” license plate bill from advancing to the final round of voting in the Nebraska legislature.
Senator Patty Pansings Brook of Lincoln says that there are more pressing issues to debate. . .

Senator John McCollister of Omaha says the Unicameral has wasted too much time this session. . .

State law allows 250 Nebraskans to petition for specialty plates. If they pay up front, the state will issue them.
Supporters first overcame a second filibuster of the measure before advancing it on a 35-to-8 vote.
It needs to clear one last round of voting to go to the governor.
