The chair of the Nebraska legislature’s Judiciary Committee says they will do what they can to help the Department of Correctional Services deal with violence in state prisons.

Senator Les Seiler of Hastings says it appears violence within the prison system seems to be escalating

Nine Corrections workers suffered injuries when about a dozen inmates attacked them at the Lincoln Correctional Center, prompting a lockdown of the prison.

Seiler says the legislature needs to look into Corrections Officer pay

All of the nine staff members injured in the fight have returned to their homes.
