Nebraska Legislature Turns Down Branding Committee Nominee

Prior to adjourning, the Nebraska legislature voted down Governor Pete Ricketts nominee of Terry Cone to serve another term on the Nebraska Branding Committee.  The vote was 45-0 against Cone’s reinstatement.  State Senator Steve Halloran says the issue dates back to February when Cone appeared before the Legislative Agriculture Committee for a confirmation hearing. Halloran says the committee voted against Cone and recommended the legislature follow suit.

Following the Legislative Agriculture Committee’s rejection, Halloran says he was hoping Governor Ricketts would have made another appointment to the state’s branding committee.

The state senator says Governor Ricketts can submit another nomination for the branding committee, and that individual will be able to serve until January at least when the state legislature re-convenes for its next session.
