A bill is under consideration in the Legislature that attempts to address the growing opiate problem.  State Senator Steve Halloran of Hastings is the co-sponsor of LB 931 that focuses on limiting prescription amounts to younger Nebraskans.

The bill would also require an ID and that the practitioner goes over the risks of the drug with their parents and patients.  He says there are exceptions for certain individuals.

Halloran says the goal of this bill is to protect minors from an overdose and over prescriptions.
