Nebraska Legislators Begin Budget Cutting Debate

Nebraska lawmakers prepare to debate the state budget as they return from Easter break.
Appropriations Committee chair John Stinner of Gering says his committee will submit its proposed 9(B)Billion-dollar spending plan to the full body, even though it had its own disagreements. . .

Stinner says his committee tackled a number of goals. . .

The committee recommends cuts across-the-board as well as transferring 180-Million dollars from the rainy-day fund to deal with a revenue shortfall projected at around one billion dollars.
Debate on the budget could take up most of the next two weeks.
