The Nebraska Farm Bureau is monitoring work being done by a State Legislative Summer Study Committee looking at possible farm repair legislation. Farm Bureau National Affairs Coordinator Jordan Dux says the committee is looking at allowing farmers to repair their own farm equipment as well as adjusting farm equipment software.

He says his group has concerns with farmers adjusting high level technology and the software of some farm equipment.

Dux says there are some copyright changes that will give more freedom to farmers who want to adjust their equipment for repair. He says his group will keep monitoring that situation as well as what the summer study committee does going forward.

An attempt to pass a Farm Repair Bill failed during the 2016 session of the Unicameral. Following that the issue was sent to the interim legislative committee for study.
