State lawmakers took a step this session to help Nebraska retain its retirees.
Senator Brett Lindstrom of Omaha sponsored a bill that indexes Social Security income to inflation, which he calls a small move to become more welcoming to retirees
Lindstrom says too often, Nebraskans retire, then move to other states.
Governor Pete Ricketts says Nebraska is attractive for those who retire, but the legislature could do more to enhance its reputation among retirees.
Nebraska is one of only a handful of states which currently tax Social Security income.
