Nebraska lawmakers failed to move a measure which would have extended authority to certain Natural Resource Districts to raise levies for water management projects.

Senator Mike Groene of North Platte charges the NRDs have wasted too much money. . .

Senator Curt Friesen of Henderson sponsored the bill which would have allowed those NRDs to raise levies by up to three cents to pay for water management projects. . .

Friesen says his biggest worry is with the Platte River Basin, which he says needs to comply with state water regulations.

The issue could be revived next year.
