Nebraska Lawmakers Back Creation of Military and Veterans Affairs Commission

A measure that would create the Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs has advanced in the Nebraska legislature.
Senator Sue Crawford of Bellevue sponsored the bill and tells colleagues Nebraska must move to protect Offutt Air Force Base and the 55th Air Wing. . .

Senator Mike Groene of North Platte supports creation of a commission, but tells colleagues he wants the Department of Veterans Affairs to maintain its focus. . .

The commission will work to maintain Nebraska’s military bases, with an emphasis on maintaining the 55th Air Wing at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha.
