Nebraska Lawmakers Advance Watered Down Property Tax Relief Bill

A bill seeking to provide property tax relief for farmers advanced in the Nebraska Unicameral after undergoing changes during first-round debate.
Senator Mike Gloor of Grand Island sponsored the second part of the tax relief package backed by Governor Pete Ricketts. . .

But Senator Bob Krist of Omaha questions whether the legislature should address the increases in property valuations by county assessors. . .

Legislators warmed to the bill after the sponsor lowered the amount of tax relief going to agriculture from 30-Million dollars a year to 20-Million and removed language that would restrict the revenue growth of community colleges.
