Almost twenty-five thousand people filed unemployment claims in Nebraska in the last week, over fifteen thousand filed the week before. That two-week total is more than filed in the past year.
Nebraska Labor Commissioner John Albin says they are processing the claims while waiting for federal information and funding….
Under the economic rescue plan, those getting unemployment will get an additional six hundred dollars a week in federal funds.
Albin says they will start state payments and catch up on federal funds later if necessary…..
Albin says those making claims should still make their weekly reports…
The extra federal funds should last about four months.
