Nebraska joined several other states in operation “Donate With Honor”.   Attorney General Doug Peterson says it is designed to take down fake charities that claim to help veterans.

Peterson says never give your credit information over the phone and don’t believe it when the scammers say you have to donate right then and there.  He says the best way to find out if a charity is legit is to log on the Nebraska Attorney General website at ago.nebraska.gov and click on the consumer protection and charities section for details.
