Independent Cattlemen of Nebraska leaders are expressing concern with a recent state audit of the Nebraska State Brand Committee. The audit showed resulting deficiencies that ICON wants addressed. ICON President Dave Wright says the audit shows there’s a lack of trust with how the committee has been and is operating.

Wright says State Attorney General Doug Peterson needs to investigate what’s going on with the Brand Committee.

He says there needs to be a proper search for a new executive director and assistant director.

Besides the questions raised by the state audit, there are questions over the resignation of former Executive Director Shawn Harvey and the committee’s decision to create a new position and then rehire Harvey to that job.
