More than $114 million dollars in federal funding was delivered to Nebraska families for home repairs, rental assistance, and homeownership in 2014. The USDA Rural Development housing grants are utilized in communities of 20,000 people or less, according to Nebraska State Director, Maxine Mou
Moul says eligibility for housing programs and funding is dependent on income, credit and repayment ability, and the property must be located in a rural area. She says the success of these programs is due to the structure of the grants.
Moul says USDA Rural Development funding for Nebraska totaled $189 million dollars, which includes business and industry, energy, loans and grants, and improvements to rural electric, and distant learning programs.
