Nebraska Highlights “SNAP Next Step”

The State of Nebraska began a program in 2016 to help those that get SNAP, or food stamp benefits, to get employment training and help finding a job.

Stephanie Beasley, Director of the Division of Children and Family Services for the Department of Health and Human Services, says the program, called “SNAP Next Step” helps people get the skills they need to find a job…

Beasley says they program has made slow, steady progress….

Beasley says there are qualification guidelines…

Beasley says the families in the program have on average increased their monthly income by more than nineteen hundred dollars and about sixty percent no longer use SNAP benefits.
