Today, the Nebraska Supreme Court in a split decision upheld the state law providing a route for the proposed Keystone XL pipeline project. The court found the landowners who filed the action against the state law did not have standing. One of the landowners, rancher Randy Thompson of Martell says he’s not only disappointed by the decision but is calling on the President to reject the pipeline.
BOLD Nebraska’s Jane Kleeb says earlier the President indicated he would veto any measure that may pass Congress for the Keystone XL pipeline. She expects the President to reject the pipeline and says that could happen soon.
Kleeb adds that while the Nebraska Supreme Court Ruling settled the question of the pipeline’s route, it doesn’t change the facts about the project’s potential devastating impacts on the land, water and climate.
