The Drug Enforcement Administration says it won’t require all labs testing the THC levels of U.S. hemp to be certified by the agency during the 2020 crop year. That’s great news for industrial hemp growers according to Bill Achord, President of the Nebraska Hemp Association.
He says not requiring the certification for all labs is needed because there aren’t enough to cover the whole areas allowed to grow hemp. Achord also says it’s also positive DEA is planning to give states more options for disposing of hot hemp, that that contains more than 0.3 percent THC.
Achord says although it’s proceeding slowly, the hemp industry is moving forward in Nebraska although more processors are needed.
Achord says it would help the hemp industry is the national regulators would allow the THC level in hemp to be at 1 percent instead of 0.3 to be legal. That level’s been recommended by the American Farm Bureau.
