Sorghum growers in Nebraska are getting ready to put their crop in the ground for the 2021 growing season. Nebraska Sorghum Producer’s Association Executive Director Nate Blum says about 105,000 more acres of sorghum are expected to be planted this year over last season in Nebraska.
He says not only is his association working on getting more sorghum acres on the ground but also in developing more value added opportunities for growers.
Blum says there are several uses for sorghum and the potential for growing those uses is very good.
Blum says the reason it’s critical to grow those value added domestic markets for sorghum is because the ports for shipping sorghum to international markets are so far away.
