Several Nebraska state lawmakers and groups are putting together legislative proposals to provide property tax relief. That’s expected to be the center of major debate during the 2019 session of the Unicameral. A meeting was held in Beatrice this week where the Nebraska United Coalition talked about their relief plan. State Senator Elect Myron Dorn says he’s watching the issue closely although he hasn’t formally endorsed any specific plan yet.

Coalition spokesman and Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen says their proposal will be introduced early in the session and calls for a slight raise in the sales tax to counter property taxes.
