A proposal to reduce taxes in Nebraska has been released by the conservative Platte Institute. Spokesman Dick Clark says however, that their proposal is not a tax shift. He says it includes income tax cuts for all tax brackets.
The proposal would also freeze property tax rates, cut the state budget, and re-examine current county services required by the state.
Currently Nebraska taxes ag land at 75 percent of its valuation, with some calling for a reduction to 65 percent of value. Residential property is taxed at 100 percent of value.
Clark says their proposal is not a tax shift.
The Platte Institute was founded by Governor-elect Pete Ricketts, who is no longer a member of the board.
