The high rate of property taxes has been a major issue in Nebraska and that played into a bond issue that was defeated in Tuesday’s election. Over 60 percent of voters turned down a $369 million dollar bond proposal backed by Southeast Community College. Will that provide impetus for more property tax reform during the next session of the Unicameral? Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts says he’ll be advocating all types of tax relief.

Ricketts says one of their challenges will not only be tax relief but how to deal with a project $1 Billion budget deficit.
