Thursday, Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts announced the first trade mission of his administration will be to Europe June 8 through the 15. State Agriculture Director Greg Ibach says they’ll be visiting Italy, Belgium and Denmark.

Ibach says over 47 percent of the beef exported from the United States into Europe comes from Nebraska so that’s an important market for their state’s producers. He says this trade trip comes as U.S. and European negotiators are discussing the Trans Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership deal.

Ibach says they will be meeting with top level European agricultural officials during this trip.

He says they also want to talk with European companies that may want to relocate in the United States. He says Nebraska will be a good place especially for those Bio Science and Food processing businesses.
