In light of recent events, school safety is a high priority. President Donald Trump is in favor of having some teachers conceal carry weapons during school hours. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts believes that could be part of a bigger solution.
He agrees with several steps that are already under discussion in Washington D.C.
Ricketts says he is getting the ball rolling and making calls to those officials starting today. He also has information as to what other states have done regarding school safety and incorporate those plans into Nebraska’s. He says there is a lot of data to be collected and a timeline has not been set.
