Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts says his administration will be factoring in Medicaid expansion when it considers the state budget it will submit to the legislature in January.
Ricketts opposed expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. Voters favored it, passing Initiative 427.
Ricketts says he will factor in the additional costs as he drafts his proposed two-year state budget. . .
Ricketts says he understands he will be facing a different legislature and one that might be more resistant to his proposals.
Ricketts doesn’t foresee any major shake-ups to his administration. He says he will be looking to replace CEO Courtney Phillips at the Department of Health and Human Services. Phillips resigned to take a similar post in Texas.
