The first part of Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts’ property tax relief package is on the verge of passing with the second part ready for another round of debate. Senator Ernie Chambers of Omaha has vowed to filibuster both bills…and has harsh criticism for the education portion of the package

But, once lawmakers broke Chambers’ filibuster, they easily advanced the bill to final consideration.

Not everyone is happy. Senator Dave Bloomfield of Hoskins picked up on a statement made by another senator who calls the tax break ‘chicken feed’

The education bill costs 8-point-5 Million dollars. The second bill should provide agriculture 20-Million dollars in property tax breaks.
